75 years MEFA

From the foundation to the future

From dowels to system solutions: 75 years MEFA

1949 - How it all began

When Friedrich Krätzer founded his company in Kupferzell on May 1, 1949, the reconstruction of war-ravaged Germany was in full progress. They built with everything the market had to offer: pumice and gas concrete, sand-lime bricks, bricks, hollow blocks, concrete and plaster. To enable these porous or brittle materials to bear additional loads, vast quantities of screws and dowels were needed to fasten pipes, for example, simply and securely. At the beginning, mainly screws were galvanized and traded, then in 1956, production was expanded to include the new metal and fiber anchors (MEtall- und FAserstoffdübel), from which the current company name is derived. MEFA Befestigungs- und Montagesysteme GmbH has grown from its expertise in secure fastening - and is now celebrating its 75th anniversary.

System concept

Dowels are still part of our product range today, but the range of solutions we offer as a company is systematic:

It ranges from simple wall mounting to intelligent fastening systems for HVAC and modular systems for the process industry. We have consistently focused on our strengths: instead of randomly expanding product lines, we have constantly improved our products and consistently developed them into entire product worlds that meet the requirements of modern fastening technology. This method has enabled us to expand our product portfolio with a number of elements that are now indispensable. This resulted, for example, in the first structure-borne noise-insulated pipe fastening in 1966, the Stex quick-fixing systems (1996) and the modular CENTUM® heavy-duty system for industrial and plant construction in 2007. “Our goal has always been to provide installers with a modular system - sophisticated, practical and flexible, so that we can respond to all construction situations,” explains Martin Schneider, Managing Partner. This has resulted in long-term and trusting relationships with HVAC-tradesmen, system builders and industrial customers who value quality, foresight and reliability just as much as we do.

Practice oriented

“Our focus is on development and production - we are not dealers,” adds Alexander Schmidt, second Managing Partner of MEFA, “this specialization enables us to develop practical and tailor-made solutions. Where others have to fit in, our developers, designers, production and sales teams feel challenged.” Thanks to our consistent practical orientation, in-depth product knowledge and ability to meet special challenges, we see ourselves as an indispensable partner in fastening technology. “Our teams work hand in hand to tackle every customer problem directly,” continues Schmidt. This commitment is also reflected in our active role in the RAL Gütegemeinschaft for Pipe Fastening, in which we contribute to the assurance and transparency of quality standards. “We are proud that our installation and fastening systems have been helping to make construction projects safer and more efficient every day for 75 years. Whether it's installing a heating system or securing a ventilation installation, our products are crucial to the reliability and longevity of such projects,” says Martin Schneider.

Pioneering

While we can look back on 75 years of successful innovation, we are also looking to the future. That is why MEFA has positioned itself strongly in the field of renewable energies. The multiQ absorber system, developed in 2009, is an environmentally friendly way of tapping into various natural energy sources and making them usable for heat pumps. multiQ is not only a technological innovation, but also an example of how MEFA transforms complex technological challenges into sustainable and practicable solutions that offer both economic and ecological benefits.

Martin Schneider: “For us, this is a logical development of our expertise in system solutions. As a specialist in fastening and mounting systems, we know how important it is to offer holistic solutions that are not only technically sophisticated, but also sustainable”. With the entry into the field of renewable energies, existing mounting solutions from the core range were combined with the clever absorbers to create multiQ products in order to provide the heat pump with heat from water, soil, air, the roof or the ice store.

Familiar

Today, we employ over 185 people in Germany and 270 employees worldwide. With our family-managed company, we have significantly expanded our reach over the years and now export our innovative products to over 40 countries. With subsidiaries in Denmark, Italy, Poland and Hungary, MEFA is one of the leading European manufacturers and suppliers in the market for pipe installation systems and fastening technology.
