Target achieved: 400 tons of CO2 saved per year

Not only that MEFA had already set groundbreaking energy standards with the heating and cooling system of the production and logistics center (completion 2017). No, MEFA is literally putting one more on top...namely 2,000 solar modules on the hall roofs.
"With a peak output of 749 kWp, we cover far more than 100% of our daily electricity needs on sunny days. The modules ensure a sufficiently large energy yield and that for decades to come. Thus, about 400 tons of CO2 can be saved per year, as much as about 32,000 trees absorb," explains managing partner Martin Schneider.
However, the electricity generated is not only used for production and office buildings. In order to further increase the proportion of in-house electricity use, charging stations for industrial trucks and car charging stations in particular are intelligently integrated into the energy management system.
The new building was also designed with the cold season in mind: In order to be able to provide as much solar power as possible for the three heat pumps with a heating capacity of around 500 kW, especially in winter, a south facade was equipped with solar modules. The solar modules, which were thus ideally aligned for the low winter sun, were attached to the building using MEFA system solutions to protect them from wind and snow.
MEFA heats and tempers the entire production and logistics center on around 13,000 m² completely without fossil fuels - no gas - no oil!
With multiQ, the comprehensive system for the use of renewable energies, MEFA sets standards in the field of building heating and cooling.
Coupled with the newly installed photovoltaic system, energy self-sufficiency is not just an empty phrase, but reality.
